“People respond to the small things. It’s a discovery that continues with how the space is inhabited.”

Merideth Marschak is a principal at Noll & Tam. She has been with the firm since 1999, acting as both architect and manager on a wide variety of projects. Many of her clients are community college districts. She also mentors staff.

Merideth thinks the key to the firm’s success is highly intelligent employees that approach problems from multiple perspectives. With that in mind, she looks for natural creativity in new hires, not just their approach to design. She wants to create more room for diverse voices to be heard. She finds that clients get a better outcome by working with creative and engaged people.

To maintain her own harmony, Merideth digs. Her love of plants and gardening has overtaken the boundaries of her own yard and spilled onto a weedy roadside nearby. She believes plants will thrive if you find what’s right for them. She has found the same is true for people.
