Oakland Zoo California Trail

The Oakland Zoo California Trail project began over 20 years ago when zoo director, Joel Parrott, envisioned an expansion of the zoo which would include an exhibit devoted to animals native to California. The new exhibit was designed to lead visitors on an inspiring tour of native animals with views overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Many of the animals, from bears to condors to bison, are living examples of the importance of conservation efforts in California, and we have truly enjoyed designing a new home for them.
