Jane Gray Research Greenhouse
University of California Botanical Gardens Berkeley, California

The Jane Gray Research Greenhouse will be used by researchers and university staff for the study of population ecologies. Noll & Tam Architects designed the 3,600-square-foot structure with an additional "Header House" building. Six 600-square-foot greenhouse compartments have individual controls to create and maintain different environmental conditions through the manipulation of temperature, humidity and light levels. In addition, each compartment will be able to deliver varied watering and fertilization regimes simultaneously, to accommodate numerous experiments that will take place throughout the year.
