Bay Area Rehabilitation Facility
Cordelia, California
Noll & Tam Architects designed this new 12,000-square-foot facility combining the functions of traditional veterinary facilities with those for emergency care and rehabilitation of injured fowl. The facility, operated by the International Bird Rescue Center, was also a joint effort between UC Davis and the Department of Fish and Game. The facility features interior and exterior holding pens, and space to transition the birds back to the wild. Birds that require extensive care are treated in a state-of-the-art hospital area with laboratory, surgery and support areas. In addition to these components, the facility includes accessible restrooms for the staff, a laundry facility equipped with large commercial washers and dryers, storage rooms, and mechanical and electrical equipment rooms.
