Wurster Studios, School of Architecture
University of California, Berkeley

Noll & Tam Architects worked with the College of Environmental Design and its faculty to renovate and improve two of the college’s design studios.  The 6th and 9th floor studios were transformed to provide more opportunities for pin-up space and to bring technology into the design studio.  New partitions were constructed of various materials to the end of defining the open studio into discreet sections more appropriate for the class sizes, providing ample pin-up space for all students, providing an area for class critiques and, most importantly, following in the steps of the original designers of Wurster Hall to use built components of the studio to passively teach students about materials, detailing and construction.
