International House
University of California, Berkeley
International House is a historical building that has housed UC Berkeley students and visitors from all over the world since 1930. Noll & Tam Architects provided architectural services for the renovation of this self-supporting, non-profit organization with close ties to the University. We renovated 6,500 square feet of existing administrative offices for several International House departments, including offices of the executive director, accounting, and Services for International Students. The renovation featured new finishes, HVAC, electrical, life safety, and ADA upgrades, but the interior design is in keeping with the historic character of the existing building and special care was taken to keep the existing wood baseboards and crown moldings on all interior finishes. Noll & Tam's work will better allow students and scholars from the US and around the world to live and learn together in a supportive residential and community-oriented program center.
